Main Window

main window

The main window contains all the relevant controls. The controls are arranged horizontally or vertically depending on the orientation. Invisible controls can be achieved by shifting the window.


The upper left pane of the main window contains the Start button and the Off button. The Start button activates the connection to Pioneer receiver. To connect the Pioneer receiver, the receiver must be switched on and the IP address of the receiver must be entered in the settings. The off button turns the receiver off and ends communication with the receiver. An active zone 2 or zone 3 is also turned off.

Zone 1


Zone 1 is always the first operating window with all the settings that are possible in this zone.

The buttons to select the receiver input source of Zone 1 are located in the upper left part of the main window (Tuner, DVD, iPod, ...). The buttons can be configured by the settings.


The buttons A and B activate or deactivate the Zone 1 speaker groups A and B.

The volume control adjusts the volume level of Zone 1.

The mute switch disables all the speakers in Zone 1.

With tone bypass the tone control for treble and bass is used or bypassed.

Tone bypass is only available in Stereo listening mode.

The selection menu for the input source can be used as an alternative to the already described above buttons in the header area.

Depending on the listening mode, the potential decoding formats result.



The manual button activates this description.

In the four IP fields enter the IP address of the Pioneer receiver. Only with the correct IP address and a switched receiver is a remote control possible. The Pioneer receiver must be in the same subnet as this app. Determining the IP address of the Pioneer receiver, please refer to Receiver IP-Adresse.

The Page Configuration specifies which operating windows are displayed. Zone 1 can not be hidden. Alternatively, the operating window Speaker Levels, Sound Controls, Zone 2 / 3 and the Setup Page could be hidden.
iPhone, iPod, USB allows the remote control of media files to the receiver USB port. This feature can be enabled via the Windows Store.

The "Individual Page Sequence" activates a button to move the pages, so that the sequence of the operating windows can be changed.
Autostart allows the automatic connection at startup. The activation of the Start button is no longer necessary, insofar the Start button is grayed in the autostart mode.

The selection fields in the "Active Devices" defines which signal sources can be used.

Receiver IP-Adresse


The IP address of the receiver for the remote control corresponds to the IP address settings for Internet Radio. To set the IP address in the receiver select the receiver HOME MENU, then select System Setup, and Network Setup. For more details, see the manual of the receiver. If "Proxy IP Address" is selected, the IP address is automatically set when you first turn on the receiver. To determine the IP address, turn on your PC and the Receiver and wait about 3 minutes. Then open Windows 8 File Explorer and select "Network" (as shown above). The receiver will appear under "Other Devices". In the example shown above the VSX-920. Open the properties window by right mouse menu. In the Troubleshooting Information you find the desired IP address of the receiver, as shown below.

Audio options can be set via the "Sound Controls".

The switches for Virtual Speaker High and Surround Back allow activation of additional surround channels. Depending on the receiver, virtual speaker channels are only available when decoding certain formats.

The Precision Quartz Lock System eliminates interference caused by timing errors and provides a better digital in audio signal conversion when using the HDMI interface.

The phase control performs a phase adjustment, so that the speaker signals arrive in phase to the listener.

It can be adjusted depending on the receiver and the number of speakers up to 12 different volume levels.

In the upper part are the front speakers.

In the lower part there are the rear speakers, surround speakers and the woofer.

Zone 2 and 3

The operating window of Zone 2 and Zone 3 is similar in content and enables the Zone button to activate the zone.

The volume control adjusts the volume in the zone.
Mute disables all speakers in the zone.

Additionally, the input source for the zone could be selected.

Home Media

Home Media

Home Media controls the functions of Internet Radio and Media Server. The main window shows the contents of the Home Media Gallery. The selection is made using arrow and control keys, similar to the operation directly on the receiver, or alternatively by selection in the window. The Play and OK buttons activate the music playback.

The lower part of the window contains the editing and the numerical block number. The functions of the control buttons, refer to the respective receiver manual.

These functions are in application expansion pack included and can be enabled via Windows Store.

iPhone, iPod, USB


This operating window allows the remote control of smart phones, USB players or USB sticks, which are connected with the receiver. The storage media of connected devices is shown as a directory tree very often, so far is the music selection with the arrow keys similar to the operation directly on the receiver. Return allows the return back to the last level, Menu jumps to the top level. The Play and Enter keys activate the music playback. Enter, Pause and Stop stop playback. By means of fast forward and rewind, and jump to the previous or next file the playback can be changed. Repeat repeats playback of a single file, the files in a folder or of all music files. The selected mode is displayed directly after the selection. Shuffle changes between random and sequential playback. Display toggles between artist, album, titel, elapsed maturity and time to maturity. Control allows you to switch to remote control by the iPod.

The Tuner window shows the current receive frequency and allows the radio station selection. Each station can be marked with a individual name. The station classes A-G, each class with 9 stations, could be used. Not all receivers support the class direct selection. If necessary, select the forward button to switch to next class.



By right clicking on the bottom you open the bottom app bar with the support functions.

The mail button lets you send an email to our customer service.

The check button performs a system check. At the end, a log file (hbatrace.txt) is created. You can send it to us for further evaluation. Tell us also the receiver type and a problem description. During the test a diagnostic window is shown. If necessary, create an error situation through your operations. You see in the diagnostic window the test steps und your operation commands. The test takes about 10 minutes.

Settings Menu


Another settings menu is the Windows menu on the right. Open Settings Menu by swiping in from the right edge of the screen and then tapping Settings.

Settings places the Setup window in a central position and displays the window again, if you have closed it. All settings in the operating window can then be accessed quickly.
